Burning Iso Files

Why does disk utility not recognize my iso file? It keeps saying "not recognized". Do I have to convert to dmg or how does this work?

Hey there,
Have you gone to File -> Open Image and selected it from there? If you have done that, are you clicking on the right file from the left hand side menu? At the bottom of disk utility, it shows a variety of information about the file you have selected from the left hand side menu and the Type should say Image. See if that helps.

Unknown. You supplied no system information or which os you are using. Why not fill out the My Settings preferences so that you will not have to keep repeating yourself when the info is asked.

Were you previously able to burn iso files? Check the Help menu or Disk Utility Help & you will see the type of iso files your computer can burn.

Ok sorry, I edited my settings to show I have a new late 2008 macbook. I thought it would be enough to post under leopard 10.5. I never burned an ISO on a mac before, this is first week having a mac.

Ive tried file>open disk image> selecting my .iso file

also tried images>burn>selecting iso file

and then on the left hand side, i see the .iso file, i right click and click burn

all three ways keep saying "unable to burn... (not recognized)"
