SCSI to Firewire adapter???

Hey all,
I'm running 10.4.11 on a Dual 1.8 G5. I have a Polaroid SprintScan 35 Slide scanner that I would like to use with this computer. Only problem is it only has 25 & 50 pin SCSI ports on it. Is there a SCSI to firewire or SCSI to USB adapter that anyone has had success with??? I only use this periodically, so I'd rather not go to the expense and trouble of installing something in a PCI slot. I'd prefer a cable adapter if possible.

Thanks,

Dustin

There's [this one|http://www.macgurus.com/productpages/scsi/FR1SX.php] for $120. I can't help but suspect a used PCI card would be cheaper. They aren't all that much hassle to install if your G5 is a standard desktop model.

Before going to this expense I would fully investigate the situation. Your computer only supports Classic, not native OS9. It appears the software for that generation scanner dates from OS9 generation, and is run through Photoshop. I'm just having a bad feeling about all the drivers working for this, and getting it to run under Classic. Do you know for certain there is OSX support for this and that it works? The jump to OSX really spelled the end to a lot of great old peripherals.

IMHO it's time to retire the scanner.
1. Over 10 years old.
2. Low resolution compared to today's scanners. (10 bit capture 8 bit out). 2700dpi resolution highest.
3. Difficult to obtain good prints unless photo was A +
4. By the time you spend $ on converters and time making it work a new one might prove to be more efficient.
