Updating OS 10.3.0 to 10.3.9

I have just erased my hard disk and reinstalled the OS (which is presumably OS 10.3.0?) from the installation disk 1 which came with the computer when I first bought it. I now intend to give the computer to my daughter who will want to update the OS to 10.3.9. Can she go straight for update 10.3.9 or must she update in stages e.g. 10.3.1 then 10.3.2 etc?

Similarly, are there any things she should watch out for when attempting to update/upgrade some of the applications such as iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD etc.? I realise I am probably asking multiple questions here, but I am trying to save on multiple postings.

This will be her first experience of a Mac so if anyone can give me simple instructions to pass on to her, it will be appreciated by both of us.

I prefer to download the update & install it off line. Sometimes there will be a "glitch" in the internet using the auto update which will corrupt the install & freeze the startup. To update to the final Panther version 10.3.9. See Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update (Combo) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2464 This combo update will update you directly from 10.3.0 to 10.3.9 Be sure to repair permissions before and after the update.

With applications, you can use the auto update, because if you do have a glitch, you can always reinstall the app.

 Cheers, Tom 😉
