URGENT - Wireless keyboard, batteries ran out, now won't connect.

Hello,

I am having major problems with my wireless keyboard. The batteries went flat, so I replaced them... now I'm getting a passkey on screen, but as my keyboard is not working I cannot type it in, I've tried copying and pasting each digit into the bit that asks me for the passkey and still no joy. I can't seem to find a way to get my keyboard working again. This ***** big time!

Do any of you know of how to cure this problem?

MacBook Pro, iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Nice instructions, I do admire the illustrations... but, how the f**k am I supposed to get into the Bluetooth Setup Assistant when I cannot even type in my password.

Now i'm getting a message saying that the keyboard is successfully paired, yet when I hit the keys nothing happens. This is very uncool Apple... I can't even plug in my old PC keyboard as that's not USB.

Does someone know of a solution to this issue? I feel like I may be here, ranting to myself for a while!

Just tried shut down the iMac in the hope that doing that would perhaps resolve my situation... now it's asking me for my password and I have a fekking keyboard that won't work.

I cannot believe that when I bought this thing, that they never gave me a wired keyboard! That's most uncool.

There's a wee green light in the top right corner of the keyboard that seems to intermittently blink on and off. How should I know if this bloody thing is on or off? (Now getting rather angry! Grrrr!)

Apple says - "If you have previously paired your keyboard with your computer, you do not have to set up the keyboard again after replacing the batteries. The keyboard should automatically pair itself with the computer a few moments after you turn it on."

Aye... Right!

Doesn't seem to be working from where I'm sat.

Hey now:

So far you seem to be talking to yourself and answering your own questions. So I will jump in with a suggestion. Maybe you could visit a neighbor and borrow a USB keyboard. Many people have extras sitting about. That would at least get you out of panic mode. Then maybe in the near future you can buy a cheap wired USB keyboard for situations such as this. I see them available locally starting at $5.

Then you can troubleshoot your current Bluetooth keyboard problems without the sense of urgency. Usually these problems have a simple explanation and fix. Sometimes a good nights sleep works wonders.

Good luck.
