connecting to a panasonic plasma

Hello all,

I connected my macbook pro through the mini port to dvi then dvi to hdmi cable to my 1080p panasonic plasma. The issue I am having is that even when changing the video setting on the mac to 1920-1080 it is still not filling up the screen (there is room on both the right and left sides. In fact no resolution fits the screen correctly.

Any thoughts?

many thanks

Ok, heres what I do and get a great looking screen at 1080x720 with no loss of dock or menus on my Panasonic 42" PAL plasma connected to my macbook pro.

Download displayconfigx http://www.3dexpress.de/#Download

Connect to TV via Apple DVI to HDMI connector and HDMI cable
Connect headphone out via digital cable or analogue to a sound source (DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio)
Launch Displayconfigx and install a setting of 1280x720 at 50Hz (not 60Hz)
Restart
Your mac should sync to the screen size
Change the setting on your TV to 16:9 (Important)
Go to the picture menu or similar for other brands and turn overscan off.

This works for me on my TV and I get great looking menus, text and movies, front row looks brilliant. I also calibrated the panny screen in the display options and used the 2.2 gamma setting, it now looks identical to the macbook pro screen colours.

Good luck guys let me know if it works
