USB Flash Drive - Hook to iPod Touch?

Is there anyway for me to read the contents of a USB Flash Drive directly into an iPod Touch, without going to a Mac or PC at some point?

Thanks

Anna - Re: Your sarcasm...

I do not see a USB socket on my non-existent iPod, no.

So. You'd need to plug the USB Flash Drive somehow (at least) into a WiFi device of some sort.

Does the iPod Touch have BlueTooth? Is there a BlueTooth adaptor WITH significant built-in USER memory?

Seems like a nice product idea: BlueTooth box with 8GB of Flash memory built in...

Are there any clever ideas about how to add or access external memory without a PC or Mac (or Internet website)?

(I know that, given a WiFi connection, I can put all this and more on a website, at limited speed, thanks)

No.

Sorry, but the iPod touch doesn't allow such access. There are some utilities that purport to enable "disk mode" that allows the iPod touch to be used as a storage device, but 1) it still to the best of my knowledge requires connection to a computer, 2) doesn't allow the iPod to access those files, just store them and 3) generally requires the iPod touch to be hacked.

The iPod touch can't, to the best of my knowledge, download files from a web site.

fair enough.
i think you have the answers to your questions - no there isnt bluetooth (although the second gens have bluetooth functionality to use with nike plus, and there is considerable specualtion and rumour that suggests this function may possibly be 'activated properly' in future)

i'd thoroughly recommend them though. fantatstic pieces of kit 😀

AirShare is another app that lets you share files between a touch and a computer (both PC and Mac) via wi-fi.

Keep in mind tough, that a touch isn't like other iPods that include large hard drives and can be mounted on a desktop like a drive.

There is a wi-fi enabled flash card - Eye-Fi and they have a iPhone app that might be what you want, but a 2GB card starts at $80.

Very interesting! And you're right; the price is pretty high. I'll check them out anyway.x
