Triplets on the drums

So I'm trying to write triplets on the drums. It's not working. As far as I can tell, you can only do it from the sheet music style editor. I see that it gives you the options to change length of notes, but when I change the note, it doesn't play that change. It changes on the sheet music, but not on the the other editor view. Know what I mean?

First of all, drum notes have no "length" - no matter how long the note is, it just triggers the drum sample.

Second, you shouldn't use the notation editor but the piano roll view. Do you want the whole beat to be in triplets? Select a triplets grid (the ruler icon in the upper right corner of the Editor window) and quantize the drum notes to that grid. If you have triplets in an otherwise straight beat, use the triplets grid only temporarily, select only the three notes and quantize them to that grid, then go back to the straight grid.

something like a symbol which would have a longer sound then, for instance, a snare.

That would make sense but it doesn't seem to be the case. In Classic Rock Beat 01, for instance, the longer notes are the kick and snare (the only cymbals in this one being closed hi-hat). But 80s Pop Beat 08, the same thing. Even the ride cymbal is relatively short.

It just makes me think that the length of a drum note makes some difference. But when lengthen or shorten them I hear no diff.

Ah, I guess it was just how long someone happened to have held the key when recording it, even though all that's needed is a hit to trigger the sound.
