XP Home Hanging on Start up Screen wont boot into windows

I have boot camp on both my mac and thus far neither work worth a darn. On my imac 2.4 20" with 4GM ram the startup screen just hangs when trying to boot into windows. I have let it run for over an hour, it just stays and cycles the blue timer graphic. I have done multiple scan disks, updated to boot camp 2.1 and this is a brand new install with genuine windows software all on the level.

Anyone have any ideas on what could possibly help?

You know it's funny because I'm confident it's something to do with USB. Why? Because I am running bootcamp on my imac and my macbook pro, if you hit the keyboard or move the mouse (or any other usb device) when booting up it hangs on the start up screen no matter what. I also had to unplug my HP printer from both machines becuse I had the same install issue you had. It took 2 days to install up until I unplugged the printer. I couldn't believe it.

The difference in my issue is Windowz is already installed and once in a while it actually boots up. I still can't boot into windows unless I do the following:

1. Boot windows by using the option key and wait for it to hang on the start up screen.
2. Do a hard shut down by holding the power button down.
3. On the next boot go into safe mode and set up a full scan disk.
4. Reboot again with the option key and run the scan disk.
5. The scan disk finishes reboots the machine then about 50% of the time it will finally boot into windows.

As a Mac user that started out with an Apple II I must say that Bootcamp is a very unreliable piece of software. I have three customers that are having the very same issue on a variety of apple Intel machines with open tickets with Apple because they are under warranty that are unresolved after several months.

It seemed to start when Service pack 3 came out.

If anyone has any answers for me please post them here, I'm pretty frustrated at this point.
