Question

Mail only loads preview lines NOT whole message: how to fix this?

I cannot download my email messages, I am connected to the internet, I get the preview lines but when clicking on the message I get the spinning things and its say "Loading" but the message never appears.
does anybody have a fix for this.
Turning the phone off/ on, reset Network setting and Reset all settings have not helped at all. I am on the latest firmware.
any help would be greatly appreciated

There is no fix for this, it's how the email works on the iPhone. It only takes the header of the email from the server and loads the first couple lines in (you can set how many it automatically loads in settings). So in order to check your email you have to have internet access so it can go out to the server and download the rest of the message, there is no fix for this because it's how Apple designed the email system to work on the iPhone.

but I was able to load my email even with the iPhone G2.
Whats the point of email if you can only view the first sentence.
that does not sound right.
I should be able to click on the message header and have the email open.
in any case thats how it has been working all along

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. Try deleting the mail account and then re-adding it back in. It sounds like there is something wrong with the account on the iPhone if it won't download the entire message. Let me know how this works.

This seems to be a server-side issue. Be sure your Mail settings are correct on your iPhone. Also, be sure you haven't changed any settings on other computers that access that email account. If you're using a POP3 account, be sure your other devices accessing that account have not been set to delete the messages from the server. Make sense? It most likely is not an iPhone issue ...

Actually it most likely is an iPhone issue, I've seen this happen a lot and it usually ends up being a problem on the iPhone side. Let me know what happens after you delete and re-add the email account.

Agreed - probably an iPhone issue. If it was server-side, I think you would see it in webmail and/or in an email client on your desktop. The OP didn't mention either but I've never seen it on either in nearly 20 years of email use.

just to give everybody heads up.
I used to have that problem temporarily and switching the phone off and on again helped the issue.
But this time was different altogether.
As I mentioned I was able to get the preview lines but not the whole message,
so eventually I found a fix after trying network reset, phone reset.
I even tried the backup, wipe clean and reinstall from backup though iTunes. But what helped in the end was a complete wipe out and start from scratch (without the option of using the backup)
Thanks for your input.
I believe the person who suggested deleting the email accounts was right.
Probably some data got corrupted and caused this behavior.
