How to connect iMac via Ethernet and still have wireless available

OK, I only have one home computer and I messed this up one time but with a reset I am (obviously?) back online. Thought I knew how to do something but apparently not.

I have an iMac running Leopard. I have Earthlink DSL with PPPoE. Just bought an Airport Express Dual band. I have a primary and guest wireless network set up. What I want to do is leave that alone and connect my iMac via the Ethernet cable that used to go to my DSL modem because there is no reason for my desktop to be on a wireless network. How do I do that? I have to be sure I do it correctly the first time because in trying to follow the instructions in the configuration guide I could no longer connect and it is very difficult to ask for help after that!

Thanks in advance.

To be clear, the configuration I want is:

(1) My iMac with an Ethernet cable running to the Airport Express. Q: Does it matter if the iMac has Airport turned on?

(2) A primary wireless network that I could use a laptop on.

(3) A guest wireless network.

I have (2) and (3) with the iMac on (2); don't know how to achieve (1).
