Black MacBook maximum ram capacity

Hi folks,

I have a MacBook I bought sometime in late 2006 which seems to be the transition period between the models that could handle either 2GB or 4GB total ram. Not sure which one I have, any way to tell whether I can upgrade mine to 4GB by looking at the model# or something?

I'm running OS X 10.5.6 on a 200GB harddrive.

I hope I can upgrade. I'm loading large charts and every time I wanna do something it comes back saying Java doesn't have enough memory to do this or that. Will increasing my L2 cache help? If yes, how do I do that?
