That would be a first generation iPod Touch. To my knowledge, the second generation one wasn't released until September of 2008. The 2nd generation iPod Touch has a built in speaker. it's not great, but is useful for many circumstances, such as showing a group of friends part of your favorite song, and for applications such as Ocarina by Smule. It also has a more rounded back, and has more support for built in microphones, such as the headphones that come with the iPhone. Also, it has built in bluetooth, which will be unlocked this summer by the 3.0 firmware update. Some say it has a slightly faster processor, but it's very hard to see any performance difference. While the 2nd generation is slightly better, the 1st generation is still good for users who are only casual users.
