Problems turning audio in clip completely down

I am having problems turning the audio within some of my clips totally off. It is especially a problem when there are transitions between clips. The level is at the bottom - but when I play the movie sequence back I hear small bits of audio from within the clip at the start of the clip and at the finish and whereever there is a transition. I've tried over and over again to drag the level to the bottom - but nothing seems to fix the problem.

Alissa - Welcome to the Forum!
As well as dropping the volume on the clips, you will probably also have to lower the volume of the transition. In Timeline view, use the zoom slider until you can see a larger view of the transition, Show Volume Levels, and you will probably see that the volume level is still high within the transition.

There is actually a bug, that can cause little 'pops' of sound at those places, but let's see if the above suggestion works first.

Not sure if there's anything there to help you, but have a read.

Have you tried other transitions? Do you need ANY of the video track's audio? If not then you can untick the check box at the right hand end.

Other than that I have run out of ideas - maybe someone else can help.
