Error code -51 when I attempt to transfer files from Mac to PC over network

This only started happening in the past week or so. When I try transferring files from my MacBook Pro to a Windows computer on the same network, the Finder freezes for a few seconds, and then it returns with an error message saying:

"Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred.
(Error code -51)"

This only happens when I attempt to transfer files to a specific computer; I don't have this problem when transferring files from my MacBook Pro to another Windows computer on my network, so perhaps there is a specific issue with the problematic computer that I need to fix, but I don't know what it is.

Why is this happening? How do I resolve it?
Thanks in advance!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB RAM

OK,
first unmount the share on the problem computer and make sure there is no other connection established to that computer from your mac in any other way.
no on the problem computer create a share and make it available with read/write permissions and also make sure the user you are connecting with has access. does that resolve the problem?
if i recall the problem computer is XPsp3 Professional. You need to check firewall, and also "local security policy" and make sure you do not have any special settings that you know of in there.

i will go under the assumption that you are able to connect to the computer and browse all shares with no issues. i believe you also stated that you do not have problems copying small files just large files, which is odd but we can find what is keeping it from working.
