3ivx watermark refuses to leave

Hi, forum.

A few weeks ago I was messing around with AVI codecs for my Mac, and I downloaded the 3ivx codec pack. I have since regretted it.

I ignored it for a little while, and then suddenly a huge, red watermark reading "3ivx TRIAL demo expired" was all over anything I played in Quicktime, iMovie and even the preview function in Finder. I found this annoying and uninstalled the program... but the watermarks are still there.

I've searched/spotlighted "3ivx" and deleted all related files after the uninstallation. I even went into Library > Preferences and deleted the .plist files with "3ivx" in the name.

All of them have been deleted except one: 3ivx2pass.log

I delete it, empty the trash, and it seems to go away. But the minute I look at the preview function or open a .avi (or even a .mpeg/.mov) in iMovie, the watermark is BACK. I go back into Library > Preferences and find that 3ivx2pass.log has returned!

I'm becoming more certain that 3ivx2pass.log is the source of my frustration, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I've maxed out my Googlefu skills on this one; I could REALLY use some help!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply!

Just in case anyone ever has this same problem and comes looking through this post for answers: I went back to www.3ivx.com and re-downloaded the trial, then went into its folder under Applications and uninstalled it properly (I think I may have just dragged it to the trash last time -- give me a break, I was new. 😉 Won't happen again). The watermarks have vanished from everything!

Also, I installed Perian; works great!
