Broken trackpad?

Hi..
I have a problem with my trackpad on MBP 17'' unibody

I have enabled it to drag a windows with one finger, but didn't enable the "Fix" feature.
Anyway, when I drag a window or a scrollbar and when I want to release it by just taking my finger off, it's not always release it! The window or a scrollbar just sticks to a mouse cursor! The term "not always" is correct, because I just didn't find any way to predict - will it release a mouse when I take my finger off or not.

I saw Apple released a firmware update for trackpad, I tried it but it told that I already have the latest version. This problem is very annoying for me, I believe it's a bug.

It doesn't release it at all when I put my finger off. But not always, relatively rarely. I didn't find any rule.

Also I installed Windows Vista and it's impossible to use "tap for click" feature at all there because it too often clicks when you just want to move a pointer.

The trackpad looks too raw overall and hard to use.

This trackpad is really different from what I have on Windows Asus laptop, probably need some time to learn.

Yes, it definitely takes time to discover and get used to all the features and quirks of the unibody MBP's trackpad — even if one is coming from another Mac notebook computer, as I did.
