iPhone Went Dead

My iPhone 3G stopped working today.

First, it wouldn't let me slide the bar across the screen to unlock it. Then, it just went dead. I charged it last night, so I know it isn't the battery. Taking the sim card out didn't help either. Any ideas?

Hi SlapnutsV1,

How did you charge the iPhone?
Were you using any accessories with the iPhone?
Try charging the iPhone with the wall adapter and USB adapter cable that came with it.

If the issue persists after trying the tips in the article, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

I followed the first suggestion listed on the link you provided and it powered on immediately (Makes me feel like an idiot!)... Thank you for your quick help!

I was under the impression that my iPhone could never shut off- it either was on or rebooting. Guess the AT&T guy was wrong?
