How did you charge the iPhone?
Were you using any accessories with the iPhone?
Try charging the iPhone with the wall adapter and USB adapter cable that came with it.

If the issue persists after trying the tips in the article, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.
