Blank screen after installing new RAM

I have a 1.5 Ghz, 512 DDR SDRAM and it's starting to get sluggish so I bought 1GB DDR 333MHz RAM and replaced the samsung card inside. When I start up you can hear the chime but the screen is blank. When I put the old card back in it works again.
Anyone any ideas how to resolve or have I bought dodgy/cheap/wrong RAM?

powerbook g4, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Does the Samsung memory have the same label or BNO number on it as http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Samsung/27SAMSO1GB/ ?

Samsung is one of several brands that generally work fine in our Powerbooks.

This isn't a Samsung it's a Hynix(?) - I guess that's why it's not working then.
