iPhone apps in Canadian vs. US app store

Eventhough Canada and US are neighbours, we see (or hear) from a lot of apps in the US app store which are not available in the Canadian app store (for example, as of today April 8th, Yahoo messenger or certain games such as Wheel of Fortune are not yet available in the Canadian app store).

Eventhough we don't really need any European content from the app store in Canada or US (such as traffic cams etc), we have them in our Canadian app store.

What is the deal with this? Why are there restrictions or "short comings" in the Canadian app store compared to US? I can understand that maybe we can't use "Skype" on our iPhones in Canada, but why not the other simpler apps such as the ones I mentioned above?

Why should there be such a difference in app distribution between Canada and US?

In our store, we even have "unnecessary" apps which only are useful in US, yet we have them. And then we can't really get the useful apps in our own store.

Why?

No one knows. I'm sure there are various issues with Canadian laws and other licsensing things that prevent some apps from being in all countries. There really isn't anything anyone can do about it. You could contact the developers of the apps to see if they will tell you their specific issue with having an app in the Canadian app store. It could be some just only want to sell their content in the US to avoid dealing with potential international issues.
