Shuffle not working - no light, but lights up when connected to PC

Have been jogging with 2nd gen shuffle. Last week it cut out. Thought it was out of power. Charged it. Orange light flashed and green came on when fully charged. When disconnected - no light on when turn on or attach earphones. No music playing. Have done the 5 Rs and checked that Windows/itunes up to date. Any ideas?

You could try the separate iPod Reset Utility

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238

which works differently than Restore in iTunes.

If that does not work, the iPod is probably broken with a hardware fault.

It might have gotten moisture in the controls. Usual solution is to NOT plug it in for some number of days approaching a week. You might have fritzed it by connecting it... IF it's still under warranty (ie <1 year old) you could take it to an Apple Store if one is within reasonable distance.
