Get rid of "login" screen at start up!!

Hello,
How do I get rid of the "login" screen when I boot up m computer? I don't have the multiple user ability checked, so my account is the only account on my computer, how do I get it so my computer boots up to my desktop?

I have exactly the opposite problem?

When I try to enable automatic login, I check the checkbox, type my password and close the prefspane. But when I restart the computer , the login-screen still appears? And when I check if the preferences have changed they still indicate that Automatic login is enabled...?

I only have one user-account(admin) on this mac, but I have tried to automatically login on to a standard account without any success...

The problem has been there since the first intall of 10.4 Tiger.
