Yahoo Mail on iphone problem

I do have yahoo mail on my iphone for a while and it was working perfect.
Few days ago I got:
Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for "xxxxx@yahoo.com" is incorrect.

I do not have any problem when I login from my PC with same User name and password.
When I try to set up my email from I phone again. Here is what I got:

Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for “imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com” is incorrect.

I can make all my friends’ yahoo mail work on my I phone but only the one mail account used to be working fine does not working now.

Can someone help me?

Dell, Windows XP

This is the full text of the Yahoo (Mac) error message - what is the problem here ?

"Sorry for the inconvenience.

You've stumbled upon a temporary problem we're having with Yahoo! Mail. Usually this problem gets resolved quickly, without you doing a thing.

Try pressing the Reload or Refresh button on your browser, or signing out and back into Yahoo! Mail. Hopefully that will take care of things.

If that doesn't fix the problem, please try again shortly. The fact that you're reading this page means we've been automatically notified of the issue, and chances are we're working on it now.

I've had Yahoo Mail Plus for over 5 years without any problems (Yahoo Mail "Plus" means you pay $20/yr to get POP mail access using a standard mail clients). But since I got my iPhone 3GS, I've been having frequent problems accessing Yahoo Mail from my Mac Mail client, via web browser, etc.. My iPhone replaced a Treo 700p, and I used to have no problems, even with two Mac Mail clients and the Treo accessing my POP mail every 5 minutes. Now, since my frequent problems started, I've cut way back on the POP access on all my mail clients (which Yahoo Support told me to do), but the problem persists.

QUESTION: Do you guys with problems have the standard (free) Yahoo Mail, or Mail Plus with POP access?

THEORY: When I got my new 3GS, it automatically imported the mail settings from my Mac Mail client. However, instead of keeping my POP settings for Yahoo Mail, it changed the setting to the Push/IMAP for my iPhone. The Push settings would be great for most people, but not so much for people with Mail Plus who access mail with POP settings. The problem is, when an email client accesses POP mail, it tells the IMAP mail client that all email has been read (when it's simply been downloaded). I think Apple should not, by default, import Yahoo Mail settings which are set to POP, and then change the settings to IMAP on the iPhone -- at least ask the user before making this change. Anyway, my uneducated theory is that the simultaneous IMAP and POP access to my Yahoo Mail Plus account screwed something up, and now I keep having problems accessing mail. I've since deleted the default Push Yahoo Mail account from my iPhone, and set it up from scratch as a POP account. But my mail problems persist.

Also note that, a detailed debug message I get sometimes (usually with error code 5, though once with error code 20) always list the same date/time, which is really close to when I got my iPhone, and also when my problems started. In my mind, that supports my theory. I've been waiting for Yahoo Support to address this detailed debug report, but they keep on giving vague responses (basically telling me over and over that my issues are due to accessing my mail too frequently).

Here's the error code details I've received when trying to access my Yahoo Mail via web browser (note the date in line 3):

Error #5:
0: ListMessagesFromIds
1: SOAP-ENV:Server.MailboxOpenFailed.Busy
2: Error opening mailbox: mailbox busy
3: V2.1.0 B1357.22 06/18/2009 07:28 AM
4: cg1.c701.mail.mud.yahoo.com

Dan and Rob,

I have experience with this problem and a way to help. But it's not a solution, just a workaround. This is useful if you get an error message like this when using the Yahoo Mail web client (AT&T Yahoo and pacbell.net DSL folks will also run into this):

Error #5:
0: ListMessagesFromIds
1: SOAP-ENV:Server.MailboxOpenFailed.Busy
2: Error opening mailbox: mailbox busy
3: V2.1.0 B1357.22 06/18/2009 07:28 AM
4: cg1.c701.mail.mud.yahoo.com

The problem is being caused by having two different email clients trying to access the same inbox simultaneously. Example: your iPhone's email is trying to access your Yahoo inbox AND (1) another email client like Outlook is also trying to access your Yahoo account via POP/IMAP OR (2) your using your web browser to access your Yahoo inbox with Yahoo Mail. It appears that Yahoo runs into some kind of priveledge/locking contention issues in this situation (my words, not theirs).

From my experience, the way to avoid this problem is to never try to access the same Yahoo inbox at the same time from multiple sources. If you go out and about during the day and use your iPhone to check your Yahoo POP email, be sure all other email clients are logged out (those of you who leave your computers logged in at home all day when you go to work know what I'm talking about).

If you don't believe me, next time you get this error message from Yahoo in webmail, power down your iPhone, wait a few minutes, and then try to access your Yahoo inbox again using a computer-based client and the error will go away. Apparently powering down the iPhone will relinquish whatever contentious "lock" that was on the Yahoo inbox, freeing up Yahoo Mail browser client to have free reign over the inbox.

I don't like it either, but it is what it is. I think it's a ridiculous issue to still be around considering the realities of mobile devices and multiple ways people now have to check a single inbox during a normal day. I'm hardly the only person that does this... I prefer email on my PC when I'm at one, but when I'm out and about I use my iPhone. Sometimes at home I'll be on the sofa watching TV, check email on my phone, and forget that I have the webmail client logged in. It's irritating.

Hopefully Yahoo will address this issue. I love 'em, but this is an annoying problem that should be addressed.

I am getting the infamous 'Error Code 5' message with Yahoo (officially it's BT Yahoo here in the UK), but in a different situation.

If I'm out and make notes or take a photo with my iPhone, I like to email them to myself as a backup copy.

But every time I try and do this, the message never turns up in my inbox. Or indeed the Spam or Trash folders.

I have been experimenting with this and have discovered that if I give it a few seconds and access my BT Yahoo account via the internet, the good old Error 5 message is up.

Within a few minutes it has cleared, but the emails never turn up.

Anyone got any ideas, please? It's driving me mad!
