Keeping Faces and Places ids intact while mass coping photos.

I am trying to transfer photos from my wife's iPhoto account to my iPhoto account without losing the Faces and Places id tags by simply transferring the files. What am I missing when wanting to transfer all the photos with the face and place id's intact, so I don't have to redo the work of naming faces and places?

Powerbook G4 17" 1Ghz, 1Gig Ram, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Faces and places (and keywords, etc) are stored in the iPhoto database - not the photo files - so to transfer them you must move the entire iPhoto library intact as a single entity - and must have the same or newer version of iPhoto on the new computer - moving the files will not do it - you must move the entire database at once

The only problem i find with this answer is the permissions issue with transfering from her iPhoto to mine.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to repair permissions in the Library.
