Help with Final Cut Pro/Mac preferences

Hello and please help!

I am importing DV video from multiple sources I am getting terrible audio quality during playback. When I import from my JVC dual deck, it seems to import ok, but if the camera moves at all, it drops frames. When I play it back in Final Cut Pro, if I use Built in Audio, it sounds fine. If I use Firewire video and try to play it through my monitor, it sounds horrible. It beeps and gurgles and sound plain awful. If I export it as a quicktime file or DVD, its fine. If I hook up my drive to another person's computer, it does the same exact thing. Also, if I try and crash record it, it also beeps and sounds terrible. Next, I tried using my Canon ZR45 to import the footage. Imported fine, but again, the playback through firewire is terrible. When I try and play it back through the camera, both the picture and audio will drop out so I believe that its not my deck if the camera is doing the exact same thing. If I try and playback something that I imported using someone else's computer, it works fine. I have tried using different firewires and I have tested all the firewire ports on my Mac. I am using Final Cut Pro version 4. My perferences are set to unlimited real time, NTSC firewire import and playback, and playback high quality. Please please please help!!

Thank you!

Alisa
