Fantastic. It exposes all the places that apps link to. I now know what the URL is for the software update server and the time server. Almost nothing is left unknown in the area of the networking.

BTW, your profile shows you are using an ancient version of Leopard. There have been many bug fixes and improvements since 10.5.2, which is almost a year old.

I have read of people paying for the application and having issues with it still expiring to the 3 hr demo. How would Norton Firewall compare with Little Snitch?

You can restart LS after the timeout. I am still "evaluating" it. I find it very useful.
It's not a firewall, per se, but requires human intervention to understand what is happening.
I would never recommend Norton anything for a Mac. I tossed out all my Norton junk on my 2 PCs late last year after giving up with their terrible support (read none) and even then, when I removed it, it took out the only good product I had from them, Ghost.
Uninstalling a Norton product is a bear. It leaves traces of itself all over the OS and they even make a special removal tool, which, as I discovered, removes everything of theirs. Apparently removing one of their apps in their integrated environment is impossible.

Unless you are involved in an area where threats are coming in at you constantly, LS is probably sufficient. If you want some extra protection you can install "waterroof" and get better control of the firewall.

In some instances, it's best to run the computer as a standard user rather than an admin, but that's personal preference and usually based on experience.
If you are using WiFi, use WPA, but sadly, even that has been recently hacked. 😟

I have Norton Internet security installed at the moment. I only have the Firewall application installed out of the 3-4 they offer in the program.
One issue I am having is when I shut down my iMac it hangs for 40-60 seconds. Normally it's powered off in seconds.

What do you recommend for an application that will let me locate the scraps that are still left after and application is removed.

That sounds like Norton to me.

For Norton go here:

for any other apps, see CMCSK's post.
