I have just loaded up my new iPod and have created various playlists from my albums. However, when I have the pod in "play in order" mode the playlists don't play the tunes in order. In iTunes they are listed in numerical order but I'm not quite sure which order the iPod thinks they are in when it wants to play them.
Anyone have any clues how to get the beast to behave?
MacBook Pro,
Mac OS X (10.5.6),
Currently having to use WinXP as MacBook in for NVIDIA repair :-(
I am not all that familiar with the shuffle, but in general, playlists show up in iPods in alphabetical order by artist I believe, despite the order in iTunes. So in iTunes you would go to the playlist, right click and then pick the option to "Copy to Playorder" which won't appear to do anything in iTunes, but will cause the playlist to show in the order on the iPod as it does in iTunes. Of course you can not "see" the playlist order on a shuffle and I am not sure if this functionality is supported with the shuffle, but that would be my first suggestion to see if that fixes your issues. "Copy to Playorder" on your iTunes playlist, then resync the shuffle. Patrick

Patrick,
Thanks for your input. That, coupled with re-loading the playlists seemed to do the trick.
Now I just have to keep my daughter's hands off my iPod!
You are welcome. I had to buy my daughter her own iPod a few years back (got her an Apple refurb, works great) and now my 11 year old son is constantly asking for one. So I know the children/iPod issue well! 🙂 Patrick
I just got the new shuffle, and am having similar problems - it'll only play the songs in alphabetical order. I've done the "Copy to Play order" and resynced it, but it still won't play the songs in the order I set them.
Well, I figured out why it won't play in the order I set the playlist in - the new shuffle only plays in order of name, artist, track count, last date played, etc., but not numerically. What a crock.
