I hear them but they don't hear me

For the last 2-3 days, my phone rings, I answer & can hear them but they can't hear me. I tried reset & restore , the power off thing and even sipped the mic clean when it wasn't dirty. If I use the earphones, they work but any other time, no luck.
Also, not as important, but when I typing, the letter bubbles arn't there for some of them
Thanks for any help, have meetings all day so any help! I am also nowhere near a phone.

Sounds like it's time for the last of the three RRR's Reboot/Reset/Restore i have noticed my iPhone doesn't bring up those bubbles when it's memory is getting low so a reboot should fix that. I would say that that if a Restore doesn't clear up the microphone problem it's probably time for Applecare or a Genius visit

I'm having exactly the same problem which started today. Other apps that use the mic work fine - Record, Skype. Sometimes the headphones work, sometimes they don't.
Clearly this is a software issue but I've tried the 3 R's (several times!)as well with no luck.
Is this really only something that can be fixed with a replacement phone?

I was about to reply "Maybe you're dead?". Kinda funny but not addressing the issue, I know. But I tell you, I've never had the problem you all are describing. If I did, I can tell you what I would do - Go and see an Apple Genius and tell them to replace that iPhone!

I had figured that I would have to go back to the store but I am in another state & have full meeting schedule here until I leave. I am not sure how to reboot, is that the sleep & home button? Thanks

Reset: press the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings. See p. 34 of the manual... http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf

same thing happened to me yesterday, i went to Apple store today and was told water sensor was activated so warranty was voided and they would gladly sell me a new phone, no other options given. My phone has never been wet before so I am very confused and unhappy.Phone will work if on speaker. I am very disappointed. Any suggestions?
