Love the look & feel of the new Mac Pro thin keyboard. Why is it way dirtier after one week of use than my PowerMac G5 keyboard (also white keys) was after 4 years? I don't think I've suddenly gotten dirtier. Not a big deal in grand scheme of things, but if it looks this bad after a week it's gonna be downright nasty in a couple of months. I have some high-maintenance clients who will see me working on grungy old-looking equipment. In my world - design - that sort of thing has a bit more weight than it might in other areas. Yes, keyboards can be cleaned, not a problem, but after a week? What's up with that? Otherwise this system is amazing and keyboard is fun to use. Anyone else seen this? Or am I suddenly dirtier/greasier than I thought?
Didn't you read the manual about wearing lambskin gloves? These are
Mac products for gosh sake! 😉
I wonder if one of the reasons they seem dirtier is because on the old style keyboards, crumbs, ashes, seeds would fall into the keys and board. Now everything remains pretty much at the surface.
I've had my new keyboard for over a year now and I have the opposite experience... it seems cleaner than my old one. Perhaps because it's easier to clean?
...Lambskin?! The manual said that?! >_<
altho it said no solvent, my keyboard was really dirty to the point where a damp cloth did nothing..... so I took some 'Soft Scrub with Bleach(the paste looking one)' and applied a light layer over the keys... 5 seconds later, I wiped it off with a damp cloth and voilà .... extra clean keys...I just wish there was a way to get the same horrid greyness from in between the keys and the board itself... is there?
I wish the people who oversee this site would do a better job of notifying people when the posts they make get responded to. I think I'm losing 10 percent of them.
TCY, see my little winking smiley face? Like this one? 😉
I was just kidding! 🙂
Of course, a thin pair of gloves really might solve the problem though. Maybe an innovator like Apple should start supplying them with every new mac they sell. The press would like it. "Apple now gives free Gucci gloves to every person who buys a Mac!" PC owners would be so jealous.
lol, I'm talking bout the keyboard models before these flat silver like ones. All white bluetooth, big and chunky. I got some dirt particles and stuff under the keys an plasted to the board which has started to hinder the keys when typing. I wish I could remove the keys, but I'm sure there must be a better way... Caned air only pushes the large particles around but it can't get the dirt off.

LOL, that's a good idea. With all the resources put into making the systems more efficient, and the money we spend on em, they could at lest give a cleaning kit and said Gucci gloves.
Well, I’m glad that I’m not the only OCD Mac owner in the group. Try using the same lens cleaning solution that you would typically use on plastic lenses, as it works harmlessly well when applied to the associated micro fiber lens cloth.

What's up with the dirty keyboard?
