Motorola H710 bluetooth echo?

I bought two Motorola H710 bluetooth headsets for two iPhone 3Gs. Everything works fine except that the user hears an echo of his or her own voice when using one of the phone/headset combos.

Any ideas why this is happening on one phone/headset combo and not the other? What's more likely, that it's a hardware fault or something else?
