Kiosk mode?

It's a shareware plugin but if you intend to try it out, Haoli's usage instructions state..

For kiosk feature, please READ the KIOSK.rtf, and do not turn on kiosk mode before you have read this document and understand it thoroughly.

So if whoever make Saft have managed to get to make Safari run in full screen kiosk mode - how did they do that? i dont want to have to pay for extra software then discover 2 months down the line there is a variable you can tweak.

Go to Macintosh Web Browsers Past and Present and search on "kiosk". You will find some alternatives, free and commercial.

You can use javascript to resize the browser window but this isn't what i want - i want Safari to run full screen without any tool bars etc. just the web page - same way that you can with Internet Explorer in Windows using the '-k' commandline argument, if its not possible with Safari then looks like i'll have to look at implementing a Windows version - something i'd rather not do but i know it works.

The restricted user account that i have setup doesn't load the Dock or Menu bar and runs Safari as its shell. A mac-mini that its on is going to be linked to a large LCD screen and used as digital signage thing.

well i did but not on the mac platform - no viable solutions on the mac - in the end i had to go down the Windows route using IE in kiosk mode

Did you find none, or none for free? Earlier in this topic you said you did not want to spend money on Saft - but did you try their demo?

Also, did you look at and/or try webXkiosk, wKiosk or KioskBrowser, just three of the browsers of the list of Mac browsers I linked to?

Also, it turns out the shareware iCab browser has a kiosk mode.
