I asked this question a long time ago but never got a good answer. Is there a way to change these icons? Changing the icons in the Safari resource folder does nothing

    Hi Neal

I would not mess around with those icons. You may compromise the webkit files.

Prior to Safari 3, 3rd party Safaricon offered an easy way to alter the icons. However, Safari 3's code made that process complicated and difficult to manage. Hence, no 3rd party icon alterations now for Safari 3+.

Yes, But the default icons are so bland and colorless!

I agree. Have a look at Safaricon Themes. Quite a contrast to Apple's set.

Consider contacting the developer to see if plans to pursue icon replacement in a new way.

Last time I checked he was living on Maui. Must be out surfing somewhere.

Send feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. Good for the software engineers to hear user feedback.
