Powermac 8500 USB Card

I have bought a PCI USB card for my Powermac 8500. The Card has a Opti 82C861 Firelink chip. This card works with my USB Mouse, Keyboard and Gamepad and I would like to use USB pendrives with my computer. I have tried with my Digitor 2gig USB pendrive but I don't think it is being detected properly. Would this be possible?

The USB card is the only PCI card I have installed in my mac in the bottom slot.
I reinstalled Mac OS 9.0.4 and upgraded it to 9.1 after I installed my USB card.
The installed drivers are whatever Mac OS 9.0.4 and 9.1 have installed and also the USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1

Because the "USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1" drivers pre-date the OS 9.1 Update, you should not use that installer beyond OS 8.6. OS 9.1 provides broader USB support and its included drivers can be manually installed on systems running OS 8.6 for better recognition of devices. You should find the following drivers in the Extensions folder, with #2 being essential for functionality of USB flash/hard drives:

(1) USB Support
(2) USB Mass Storage Support
(3) USB Device Extension
(4) USB Software Locator
(5) HID Library
(6) SerialShimLib
(7) ENETShimLib

How many ports are on the card? On older legacy Macs, I generally installed USB 1.1 cards having 2 ports. An external powered hub is useful, if there are many devices to connect - especially a bus-powered hard drive. I'd also recommend installing more memory. OS 9.1 could use a little more than 64 MBs of installed memory.

It is a 2 port card with the Opti 82C861 Firelink Chip.

I know it could do weth some more RAM but I haven't seen any for sale in New Zealand. I think I had 9.1 running on 32 Mb Ram before I broke the processor card in my other 8500 I had and moved the Harddisk VRAM and RAM into this 8500
(8 8mb RAM cards 4 VRAM cards)

These are the usb extensions I have

(1) USB Support 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
(2) USB Mass Storage Support 2.0.9 Mac Os Z-9.1
(3) USB Device Extension 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
(4) USB Software Locator 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
(5) HID Library 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
(6) SerialShimLib 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
(7) ENETShimLib 1.4.6 Mac Os Z-9.1
USB Mass Storage Extension 2.0.4 USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1

Delete the "USB Mass Storage Extension" (v. 2.0.4), as it is superceded by the "USB Mass Storage Support" (v. 2.0.9) from OS 9.1. Beyond that, you may have to change the USB card to another brand having a different controller chip. USB cards with an NEC controller seem to be more trouble-free in Macs, than cards having an OPTi or VIA controller.

I took my pci USB card out of my MAC and put it in my Win XP and it only worked the mouse, keyboard and gamepad. So I did some research and I think the card was made by an Australian/New Zealand company and is USB 1.0. I think that Keyboards , mice and game pads all conform to this standard and that is why they work and the USB pens need USB 1.1 or higher to work and that is why they are not functioning.

Thanks for all your assistance.
