Window size doesn't adjust properly

When I fire up my MacBook Pro and use an attached large screen as the main monitor, then sleep the MacBook Pro and open it up on the native laptop screen, the iTunes window is too big, and the diagonal lines in the lower right that are used to shrink and grow the window aren't visible.

This happens even if I quit iTunes while on the big screen and re-open it from scratch while on the laptop screen.

This is a bug I'll report, but I wonder if anyone else sees this too.

Closing and re-opening the iTunes window doesn't help. Quitting iTunes and restarting doesn't help.

The only thing I have found that helps is deliberately using the Displays preference pane to go to a smaller resolution and then back again.

Linda,

What it sounds like to me is when you move from one display to the other the screen resolution is changing. And if I'm correct in my belief I would say your going from a higher pixel display (MacBook) to a lower pixel screen (Large screen monitor). I may be mistaking on it but it you don't mind would you report back with the screen resolution of each device. Or at least the highest you can go for a decent picture? On the MacBook Pro it should be the largest numbers displayed.

And Next Question is if you put iTunes into the Mini player, change displays, then come out of mini does it do the same thing? or after you change displays and launch (not already running) iTunes does it do the same thing?

My Regards,
Weston

P.S. Sorry I don't have another display laying around to test this annoyance or find you the perfect solution via trial and error. Also I bet your not alone in this.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm not at my setup right now, but I'm moving from operating the fifteen-inch MacBook Pro unibody (late 2008) from max resolution on a twenty-four inch Apple Cinema display (mini display port) in clamshell closed mode to just the MBP screen itself max resolution. Yes, I am changing resolutions and in both cases I'm at the highest resolution that can be selected in the displays pref pane.

I did try going in and out of mini mode, but didn't try leaving it in mini mode when closing iTunes or switching screens because I almost never use mini mode. I can check that when I'm back at my setup.

Linda,

Have you ever come across a window that’s so tall you can’t even get to the resize handle with your mouse cursor because it’s off the screen? There’s a quick and easy fix!

The people who usually deal with this problem on a somewhat regular basis are those who hook their Mac up to a higher resolution external display. I run into it all the time going back and forth from my MacBook Pro’s 15″ LCD to my 32″ 1080p TV. If I don’t remember to shrink windows back down to fit the smaller 1440×900 pixel screen beforehand, I’m often left with unaccessible resize handles.

What are we to do in this situation? It may not be obvious, but the solution is sitting right in front of us! Clicking the green zoom ( + ) button on the toolbar of any window will automatically resize it to best fit your current screen resolution. See… I told you it was quick and easy!

Hope that helps,
Weston
