iPhone won't pair to BMW all of a sudden

I have an '06 BMW 330Ci w/ Nav, and have been using my iPhone 3G since the phone released, with no problems. It's been great. Speeddial w/ the steering wheel, contacts load quickly onto the nav screen, dial from the nav screen, etc.

All of a sudden, the "telephone" option on my nav is gone and my phone won't pair anymore. The phone buttons on the nav and steering wheel do nothing. The iPhone shows my car "BMW05101" in discoverable mode but when I click on it, it thinks and thinks and then says "Could Not Pair."

I tried turning BT on/off on the phone, power cycling everything, resetting my iPhone setting, but no luck. Am I missing an easy step to try? I want to try an re-enter my BT PIN but it's not asking.

I have a 2006 BMW 525i; just got the iphone 3g (2.2.1). It will not pair with the car. I spoke with BMW and they say that the 2.2.1 is not compatible --- only up to 2.2. My error message was that the BMW code was incorrect (when I know it was not). I understand 3.0 update is coming soon, let's hope the fix is in that update! Can't imagine Apple would leave all the Iphone 3g users who drive BMWs with the inability to use an Iphone. 😟 Anyone out there hear anything?

I may have stumbled over the reason. Bought an iPhone 3GS yesterday and couldn't get it to pair with M3 (old RAZR worked fine.) I got the "can't pair with...." message.

The problem: I had Wi=fi turned on to use my Airport/TimeCapsule wireless router. I turned off the WI-fi on iPhone (i.e., 3G only) - phone prompted for pin# - entered it and it paired instantly.

Hope this helps
