Deleting a Wiki Server Mail entry

We had a case of some spam getting into our wiki mailing list archive and we would like to remove the posting.

What's the friendliest way of removing items from the mailing list archive for the wiki server?

A procedure that works for me is described here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6085590&#6085590

Instead of deleting the entire folder delete the offending messages by their IDs then rebuild the index.
