I have the iphone 3g 8 gigabyte model, and I cannot get itunes to sync/transfer any video to the phone. It does not give any error or feedback, just will not transfer. I have a video converter for iphone and video's are in proper format, but itunes will not sync it to phone. All music will sync with no problems, any applications are synced with no problems, just video will not. Does anyone have this problem?

Did you go to the video tab and select sync movies or tv shows or whatever it is that you are trying to sync?

Are you 100% sure they are in the correct format? Specs for video's on the iphone are:

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

Are you using iTunes to convert the video or a third party App?
If a third party try using a different one (i use handbrake a fair bit)

Try this link to help with verifying video conversion and iPhone syncing with video
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211

Also check that you definitely have them checked to sync (i know it sounds silly but i've forgotten that step myself a couple of times)
And that you are also picking the right video to sync as if you are using iTunes to do the conversion two seperate copies will appear one is the original one is the iPhone version (Once again i've selected the wrong one a few times myself)

Yes, but it gives only rented video or tv movies to select, and says I have no rented videos in library. The video file has been converted to mp4, and I have tried the convert to iphone video tab and it says the file is already in proper format. But will not work, I can see the video in playlist and movie folder in itunes, but will not show up on the phone.

Have you just tried the drag and drop method for getting it onto the iPhone just find the Video under the appropriate heading and click/drag it over to the iPhone?

Thanks, rcloud, and everyone who tried to help, it was my error all along! I didn't scroll down the video tab or I would have found the movie tab! All have now been synced, how stupid can I be?

I'm sure your not the first nor will you be the last it's always the little things that trip you up

R.Cloud, I did try drag and drop but itunes would not permit it! That's why I was almost tearing my hair out! Thanks again to all.

I think from memory you need to drag the file onto the video pane in iTunes, can't just drop it on the iPhone icon.
Can't test it though as i don't have iTunes available to me currently so it might be somewhere else you have to drop it.
Either way your problem is fixed so that's the main thing

for me, some of my videos didn't sync over and it was right under my nose. i don't know if this is what's happening to you but right next to the sync checkbox, there is a scroll-down menu. click your desired preferences and apply the new settings. (i had mine under sync all UNWATCHED episodes) i hope this was the solution.
