DVD Player responding slowly

Hey all

When I insert any DVD movies to my MacBook DVD Player automatically opens and goes into full screen mode as it should, but then the disc stops spining (from what I hear) and for about 25 seconds all I see is the black screen and the spining beach ball untill the movie starts. Also sometimes when I click the eject button in DVD Player it lags with the spining beach ball for about 7-10 seconds before ejecting.

Someone has a clue to why this happens?

Hello,

Is this just one DVD or multiple? Make sure the disks are free of finger prints and smudges.

How to Clean a DVD or CD disk

How much free disk space on the Mac hard disk? Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. *Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data.*

Try deleting this file. com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist

/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

I have 118 GB of free space on my HD so thats not the issue.

Also I deleted the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist and restarted my mac and it's still the same, now I noticed that if I'm currently in the movie menu and the disk stops spining because I'm not clicking any buttons in the menu, when I do click on a button it takes a few good seconds for the dvd drive to start spining the disk and respond.
