iTunes 8.1.1 will not quit.

Every time I try to quit iTunes, it immediately restarts. I am not able to restart my computer without removing the battery because iTunes fails to quit. This is obviously not ideal. I have tried force quit and reinstalling, but of course you must be able to quit iTunes to reinstall...

Hi Elizabeth,

Do you have a iPod or iPhone connected to the Mac through a USB hub?

Are there any 3rd-party plug-ins or add-ons installed?
This article: from http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22611 provides more information about 3rd-party plug-ins.

If the issue is not caused by a 3rd-party plug-ins, try removing and reinstalling iTunes as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

I don't have an iPhone or iPod connected to my computer. All of the other suggestions unfortunately require me to be able to quit iTunes. I can't force quit, drag it to the trash, or bend it to my will in any other manner. I think iTunes 8 just hates me(see my other questions for further evidence).

It wouldn't be a big deal, but my poor computer needs to be rebooted every now and again.
