MacBook scrolling on its own

Tried that, but I'm still having the same issue. It's not entirely a trackpad issue, because this uncontrolled scrolling also happens when my hands aren't on the laptop at all. Also, today when I was switching between programs using command+tab, the display repeatedly zipped through the program icons for about 30 seconds before stopping on its own. I had taken my hands off the keyboard, but it just kept going.

I'm not rough with this machine, and I've never dropped it. It pretty much just stays on my desk or lap during the day while I work. Not under Apple Care anymore, so I'll have to figure this out sans Apple.

Nope, not resolved yet. Tried the suggestions offered but it's still scrolling like it has a mind of its own. Does yours scroll even when you take your hands off it like mine does?

After 15 years of paying more for Macs than I would have for PCs, I might be done with them once this one dies. Sure, I don't have to worry much about viruses, but all computers have irksome issues, so why spend 2-3x more for buggy technology? My spouse's cheapo PC works just as well, even if it isn't as pretty. Ugh, sorry for the rant. Other people are having this issue, but just try to get Apple to admit this isn't an isolated incident.
