Making a web site

This may be the wrong area for this post, but I couldn't find one more specific to this question. I am a converted PCer, and currently have a website: www.kimbrunhuber.com. However, I want to now be able to update the website etc. from my new G4. Is there a simple guide anywhere that will tell you:

-what (free) software will let me do this
-where I can get it

I suppose I need a web design program and an FTP program.

Thanks for your help!

This is most definitely the wrong place to post, but that being the case, if you're looking for a free WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) HTML editor, the only one is Nvu, available at http://www.nvu.com/

There are plenty of shareware/commercial HTML editors and web-design tools that are worth the money: See http://www.versiontracker.com. The same site could be searched for "FTP client", of which I would suggest Transmit, which is not free, but again, worth it.

I understand that Nvu comes from the Mozilla Composer code base.

First impressions. That Nvu is derived from Composer is very obvious. Composer's layout is copied almost completely including the tools and the ordering of the tools on the toolbar, the tabs at the bottom for switching between editor modes, and the status bar at the very bottom.

To that, Nvu has added some nice features, including the "rulers" that lets you know the dimensions of the editor window and, especially, the site manager. There are also some new tools added to the toolbar which are added at the end of those copied from Composer along with the addition of a third toolbar. There are also some additional options in some of the menus.

And, it doesn't have the baggage of the other Mozilla modules (hence, the lack of icon links to those modules in the status bar).

I have not yet had time to actually use Nvu - maybe this weekend - but it does look like a strong evolutionary and improved form of Composer.
