Beep when going to sleep

My MBA is often playing a beep sound whenever it goes to sleep. This beep sounds like it's coming from an internal speaker and not the sound card itself.
I've called Apple today and they asked me to restore something (by pressing Cmd Opt+RP) and when I tried to put to sleep while the lady from Apple was on the phone it did not make the sound.
But after using the MBA for awhile, it's still making this beep when I close the lid. And just now, it made a beep while I was using it.

Any ideas? I ran the disk and system tests, repaired disk permissions but had no success yet.

This laptop is only 4 months old 😟

Hi Raisen,

The Apple phone agent walked you through resetting the PRAM, which often times can resolve issues with a computer. Is the beeping noise only occurring when you go to sleep the machine by closing the lid? What if you sleep the machine via the software? Does it still beep?

Furthermore, what exactly does the beep sound like? I've seen scenarios on Apple portables where beeping can occur in many different ways so I tracked down some articles. Do any of those fit the bill?

Hi, thanks for your quick answer. I've checked your links but it does not seem like it matches any of them. It happens mostly when I close the lid, but yesterday it happened while I was doing the permission repair.

I saw this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8045652 and it looks that the poster has the same issue that I am having but unfortunately that thread is closed and I couldn't find any way to contact him to see if he resolved the issue.

Hi Raisen,

Can you reproduce it on demand? I ask because I really think the next best course of action is to get the machine into a service provider (either a Retail Store, or an Apple Authorized location) and have them take a look at it. I've found no mention of an "audible" beep noise that should occur on the unit outside of the links that I provided to you.

Curious, have you ever heard the beep with the speakers turned off?

Hi,

Thanks very much for all your help. I've had with this model of laptop. There is no Apple Store nearby me and I don't trust to leave this laptop on the only service provider next where I live - I've never heard of them.
I've erased everything and restored OSX, and now it's for sale. 🙂
