I lost my iPod

It rather a general question, but is there any way to track a registered iPod?
I lost my iPod shuffle somewhere in Switzerland.

Any ideas...?

macmini, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I don’t need live-tracking...

Also it's a long time ago, i read about some powerbooks which were stolen from a store; however the guys were caught. The store, apple, who ever put those serial# on some kind of /red-list/ or something; so everyone who tried to register his /new/ powerbook was caught....

There is nothing like this to ipods? What’s that registration procedure for than, anyway...?

No... registration is for warranty, in case replacement is needed, or one time phone advice within the warranty period.

I actually contacted Apple today with the same question- tracking my lost ipod down. I'm so lost without my shuffle. Yes, you can buy a relatively cheap 1st gen. shuffle through eBay but I feel let down by Apple. Why do they need all that information if they cannot help when we need it most?!

They need the info in the event that you as their customer need service under
the warranty. Coverage in the case of theft or loss are is NOT part of the warranty...
