Need to use æøå in WPA2 password...?

Hi!

I need to log onto a wireless network using WPA2 AES encryption. The password involves the letter "å" (Norwegian), and works on other PC's with Windows (thus WPA2 must accept these letters).

But on OSX on my Macbook, I'm not even allowed to type this character in the password field; all I get is a biip.

Does anyone have any idea? Is there any way to hardcode the password in some configuration file somewhere or some sort of workaround that could do this?

It is not an option to change the password...

I have English language used on the system, with Norwegian keyboard layout. I can type these funny characters when choosing for example WEP password, so my language settings shouldn't be a problem..?

Thank you in advance!

Best,
Joachim

westongallagher,

Thank you for your help! I tried entering the characters with different keyboard layouts now (including US and British), but I still get that biip sound. I have even tried copying the password and pasting it in the password field (it will not let me paste because of the "å".

Are you sure that you chose WPA2 Personal? It works for me in e.g. WEP Password or WPA2 Enterprise.. It`s just WPA2 Personal that will not allow the special characters...

Joachim

Edit: I just tried by using the Diagnostic tool through the Assist me button in the Network Preferences. Here I could only choose WPA, and it did let me enter å, but it still didn`t work... It does work on other machines, so it is still some weird stuff going on...:)
