Macbook has slowed down

I've noticed that my Macbook has slowed down when using the internet via wireless at and in other tasks like typing in Word. Any ideas as to what to look for and how to diagnose the problem? Thank you.

Close your firewall entirely.
Free up your disc space*:

Check what your recent installations are.

Brody, thank you! I've made more space on the HD. Have 19GB free now and Word seems to be faster (not getting delay while typing), but wireless connect is slow. We I use Ethernet it is fast. Another laptop is much faster when using the same router. My laptop seems faster on other networks. Where do I look to diagnose the problem? Thanks
