Someone Stole My iPod

If someone stole my iPod, is there something Apple can do once they try to plug it in and try to update it?? I know they have individual serial numbers, so if someone tried to plug it in can't Apple render it useless? or send them a message to please return the iPod to (Apple Store), and then have that Apple store send it to me??? Please, Please, Please...this was my first iPod and I loved it, and used it every day. There has to be something that can be done 😟

Sorry for your loss... but Apple doesn't do anything related to recovery of lost or stolen iPods. Report the theft to your closest police station.

No, they couldn't, especially not on an iPod Shuffle. How would Apple go about tracking it? How would they do so without violating privacy rights? What to do when someone sells their iPod to someone else, gets mad, and then calls Apple and says it is stolen?

Sorry about your daughters iPod, and I do hope you get it back, but you are incorrect about Apple going into the recovery investigation business.
