What is it with Apple s model numbers? I work on older iBooks's and On the computer (backside) it has a model number like (A1005) or (M6794) but if you want specs it's shows a different model number ones that end in LL/A?? How can I find a chart showing the cross reference??
I would like to know what OS system was shipped on what model?

iMac 24" 2.8GHZ *** iPhone 3G 16GB Black ***, Mac OS X (10.5.6), G4 MDD Dual 1Ghz 22" LCD Display

Click here and look at the page for a specific iBook model.

    Thanks Niel
Been there. I still cant figure out which iBook I have because I only have the (Apple model number) which does not correspond with any model numbers there? My question is WHY does Apple put a '"different" model number on the computer then is in any specs???

Choose About this Mac or About this Computer from the Apple menu and find the specifications for it; once done, use the information from the site to determine which iBook you have.

Yes I'll do that.... Just seems that Apple could reference the model by putting it ON the computer as to not make it so time consuming to figure out.
