Subtitles when renting movies

Hi,

I have a doubt and I think this is a very important one to solve.

It is about subtitles, when I download a movie from iTunes store to my AppleTV it comes without subtitles (english, spanish, whatever), I have tried to configure them in the settings menu, audio and video options, and selected english, then I rented a movie and was without subtitles.

When someone is hear impaired it is very upsetting not to see something with subtitles.

I have looked over the internet the way to add subtitles, and there are weird things that include cracking and stuff which I don''t really want to try.

My question is, what is the best way to get subtitles on rented and buyed movies? or there isn't any?

Thanks,

MacBookAir, Mac OS X (10.5.6)
