Easiest way to capture Xbox 360 gameplay - using a Macbook

OK so... I'm trying to figure out how to capture my Xbox 360 gameplay and transferring that to my Macbook. Currently I'm using an external "computer" monitor (Hp) that is hooked up to my xbox. Is there anyway to hook my xbox up to my macbook and just simply record, or is there a capture card that is compatible with an external monitor? The only output on my external monitor is a "VGA" (which is hooked up to my xbox, and a "DVI". Any suggestion?

P.S. is this the right forum to post this question on? lol.

So maybe if i were to get this product: http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A

I could then maybe connect that to a capture card?

that adapter is for output only, for the previous Macbook Pros & PowerMacs / Mac Pros with a DVI port.

your display has two INPUTS - one VGA, one DVI. you would need a device that could split the signal out from the xbox to the display & to the EyeTV so you could capture it.

now, if the xbox is using VGA output, then you can use this VGA converter box because it takes VGA in, converts to RCA / Svideo & also has a VGA pass thru for your display!

next, you would need an EyeTV (2008 model - doesn't do FM like the 2009).

this is about $130 or so. as cheap as I can come for you.

How do you have your speakers hooked up? If you want audio, you can use this TOS link cable from the Xbox to the macbook, use an app called Line In ( http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/download/LineIn.dmg) to play input audio thru output device such as speakers attached to your mac.

So, to sum up the situation: You have an xbox that is output via VGA. You wish to record your gameplay from xbox to a macbook & view on a VGA Display.

in order to do this, you will need to -

xbox > VGA Converter > EyeTV > Macbook & also VGA Converter > HP Display (using the passthru connection on the converter box)

for audio: xbox > TOS link cable > macbook > LineIn software (to passthru) > external speakers

I hope this make sense. a bit of work and $$$ tho.
