Editing a song in itunes

Is it possible to edit a section of a song bought off of itunes.

I'm trying to cut out an explicit section of a song (no clean version available)... it's just one section in the middle of the song, about 30 seconds long. I'm not so worried about having the two sections blended perfectly together... I just want that section of the song out!

Mac OS X (10.4.4)

If it is an iTunes Plus song, you can use the iTunes Start/Stop times to cut off the beginning, or end, or both, and then create a new (shorter) file. However, iTunes cannot remove a section from the middle. You will need an audio editing program such as Audacity or Garage Band.

Instead of removing 30 seconds, why not use GarageBand to add "bleeps" (or something) over the offending lyrics?

That's a great idea from christopher, since bleeping maintains the rhythm of the performance, which cutting does not. But, it still requires something more than iTunes itself.
