terminal says, "ttys000 You have mail."

my terminal says that i have mail

the exact thing looks like this:

so what does this mean, and how to get rid of it?

Is this an admin account? If so, some process sent you mail - just type "mail" at the command prompt to read it and then delete it. As an example, Norton Live Update, if it tries to run a scheduled update and fails, will send an admin mail saying it failed. Other process will do similar things if some scheduled process fails, or encountered an error.

use "man mail" to read the manual entry for the mail utility.
